Abstract

Migration experience concurs to make more complex parent’s task as regards both child caring and the process of transmission of values. This explorative research deals with the representations of couples with pre-school age children living in Italy but coming from different geographic areas (Africa, Asia and Latin America). Its purpose is to investigate their experience as parents, their intergenerational transmission process and their ideal image of being “good parents”.The results underline difficulties and advantages for couples’ parenting, depending on their different cultural contexts of origin and, despite some common element, peculiar points of view about what is possible to transmit to their children and how it is possible to manage adequately their parents’ role.
