Abstract

The phenomenon of violence against women has become a social emergency as evidenced by the severity of its consequences on the psychological and physical integrity of victims and society as a whole. This makes it necessary to acknowledge the priority of the problem both in terms of public health and of socio-economic costs in order to provide effective intervention and create prevention programmes. It is advisable that any models of intervention are aimed at reducing the fragmentation of responsibilities as well as at strengthening integration between healthcare and social policies. In this regard, the Task Force of Grosseto’s Local Health Authority, where the ER Pink Code is automatically activated when there are instances of violence, is emerging as an inter-institutional model integrated into the provincial anti-violence network, formalized by a Memorandum of Understanding between the Local Health Authority and the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
